Haznan Bin Hamzah
Born and raised in Petaling Jaya. Attended schools in PJ and Kota Kinabalu. Started tertiary education at Ungku Omar Polytechnic, Ipoh (1981~1983) and continued to University of Aberdeen, Scotland (1985~1987). Completed Certified Financial Planner (CFP) programme (2000~2002) and Islamic Financial Planning (IFP) (2008). Completed Masters in Financial Planning (Australia)(2004~2005) and currently completing PhD in Business Management (Saving Behaviour) at Universiti Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam (2007~present). A registered trainer with the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB).
Started initial career in the Engineering Department of Universiti Hospital (Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya) which lasted 14 years (1983~1997). During that period, was based in Osaka, Japan and later on was based in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 1997, left the government service and started own company dealing with television dramas. Later on started to deal with street luminaries and risk management. From 2002, have been lecturing and training the CFP’s and IFP Programme to financial institution’s staff and private individuals. The CFP and IFP programme is recognise by both the Securities Commission and Bank Negara Malaysia as the qualification required to practice as a license Financial Planner/ Advisor in Malaysia.
Contributed several articles to Personal Money Magazine and Utusan Malaysia. Presented several academic papers at international conferences and was granted a grant from Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) which comes under the Higher Education Ministry.
Currently, lecturing and facilitating the CFP and IFP’s programme at Permodalan Nasional Berhad Investment Institute (PNBi), Institute of Financial Planner and Advisors (IFPA) c/o Segi University and Kolej Damansara Management Centre (KDMC). Participants are from UOB, Alliance Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Maybank, Public Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Ambank, CIMB, Public Bank, Financial Planning Companies, ECM-Libra, securities companies, private and public universities staff, OSK, BSN, RHB and private individuals. Previous clienteles includes Islamic Banking and Finance Institute of Malaysia (IBFIM), Financial Sector Enrichment Programme (FSTEP-BNM), CIMB, RHB, Public Mutual, Takaful and UMW.
